No local player has been left in the singles draw after quarterfinals Friday at the €42,500 RC Hotel Open in Jönköping.

Sweden’s top-ranked player Elias Ymer lost to Dutch qualifier Matwe Middelkoop 6-7, 6-3, 2-6. The 32-year-old Leerdam native withstood 13 aces, hitting nine of his own to reach his first semi-final on Challenger level since Scheveningen in July 2012 after one hour and 58 minutes.

Andrej Golubev ended the successful run of Swedish qualifier Patrik Rosenholm, who appeared in his only second career quarterfinal on the ATP Challenger Tour, winning 6-4, 6-4. Golubev saved all two break points he faced, converting two of his own to advance after 65 minutes. The head to head record of Golubev and Middelkoop is tied at 1-1. The Kazakh won the last meeting in Moscow 2012.

Third seed Jan-Lennard Struff beat Tristan Lamasine 6-3, 7-5. The world number 110 and highest ranked player left in the draw, fired eight aces and converted three of his six break point chances to prevail in one hour and 14 minutes.

Struff will appear in his first semi-final on the Challenger Tour since Mons in October 2015 to meet Karen Khachanov for the second time. The German won in the qualifying in Geneva in 2013 in straight sets. The only 19-year-old Russian had no problems in his quarterfinal match against Andrea Arnaboldi, winning 6-2, 6-3. Khachanov, who captured his maiden Challenger title in Istanbul last year, did not face a break point and capitalized on four of his own chances to seal victory in 61 minutes.
