Top-seed Facundo Bagnis successfully defended his title of the $50,000 Cachantun Cup in Santiago on Sunday.
The world number 95 from Argentina ousted the tournament’s number three Rogerio Dutra Silva in the pair’s sixth tour meeting, winning 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Bagnis sent down eight aces and converted five of his 11 break point chances to finish the encounter after two hours and 36 minutes.
Bagnis clinched his 8th ATP Challenger crown, his third in Chile’s capital city. He takes away $7,200 in prize money and earns 90 ATP ranking points.
“I’d like to thank my team and all my friends and family in Argentina. They gave me strength. This week was great. I won again here, it feels like a second home for me,” Bagnis told.
On Saturday, Julio Peralta and Hans Podlipnik Castillo captured the doubles title, winning 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 against Facundo Bagnis and Maximo Gonzalez in one hour and 50 minutes.
