Second round action is in full swing at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger, with Christian Harrison, Yosuke Watanuki, Tung-lin Wu and Daniel Elahi Galan advancing to the quarterfinals.
In Wednesday’s first match on Stadium Court at Forestmeadows Athletic Center, it was a battle of the US-Americans with Harrison facing No. 7 seed Mitchell Krueger. Harrison was able to grab a break in the first and taking the opening set 6-4. Krueger was then forced to retire from the match with an injury. With the win, Harrison reaches the quarterfinals in Tallahassee for the first time in his career.
On Court 1, Watanuki took on Gonzalo Lama of Chile. It was a tight first set, with Watanuki taking it 7-6(2). The24-year-old Japanese consolidated and closed out the match after one hour and 33 minutes with a final score of 7-6(2), 6-0.
Next up, 2019 Tallahassee Tennis Challenger champion and No. 4 seed Emilio Gomez from Ecuador faced Wu. The 23-year-old from Chinese Taiepei was able to grab the opening set in a forceful 6-0 fashion. Gomez found hit footing and took the second set 7-6(1) to force the decided. It would ultimately be Wu advancing to his first ATP Challenger quarterfinal since September 2021.

In the featured evening singles match, Sarasota Open champion Elahi Galan took to the court against Australian Jason Kubler. The No. 3 seed from Colombia raced through the first set 6-1 before Kubler was able to dig into the match and force a second set tie-break. Galan would come out victorious, defeating Kubler 6-1, 7-6(5) to reach his third consecutive ATP Challenger quarterfinal
