AIX-EN-PROVENCE, May 7, 2022
Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi has reached the championship match of the Open Pays D’Aix CEPAC. The top seed of the €90,280 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event being held at the Country Club Aixois in Aix-en-Provence, a city and commune in southern France, fought past Nicolas Jarry of Chile 6-7(8), 7-6(2), 7-6(5) in Saturday’s semi-final.
The World No. 70 withstood 23 aces, broke serve one time and won four points more than his rival to secure victory in three hours and 13 minutes.
Bonzi, who beat his compatriots Gabriel Debru and Kyrian Jacquet as well as Indian Ramkumar Ramanathan en route to the stage of the last four, is seeking his eighth ATP Challenger career crown, but still has to wait for his opponent in the title match. The second semi-final between Gregoire Barrere and Pavel Kotov of Russia was suspended due to rain and postponed to tomorrow 10 am local time with the Frenchman leading 1-0 in the third set.
In other action, local wild card entries Titouan Droguet and Kyrian Jacquet will play Nicolas Barrientos of Colombia and Miguel Reyes-Varela from Mexico in the doubles final.
