Benjamin Bonzi clinched the title of the ninth edition of the Open Pays D’Aix CEPAC. The top seed of the €90,280 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event hosted by the Country Club Aixois in Aix-en-Provence defeated fellow Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-2, 6-4 in the singles final, which was postponed to Monday due to bad weather in Southern France.
Bonzi sent down three aces, won 79 per cent of his first-service points and 59 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and six minutes. By lifting his eighth ATP Challenger career trophy, his second of the season after Cherbourg in February, the World No. 60 earned €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
French duo prevails in doubles
On Sunday, Titouan Droguet and Kyrian Jacquet clinched their maiden ATP Challenger doubles title. The local wild card entries defeated Nicolas Barrientos of Colombia and Miguel Reyes-Varela from Mexico 6-2, 6-3. The final lasted 55 minutes.
Droguet has lifted three titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour, two in 2022. Jacquet celebrated his first triumph in doubles on the Pro Circuit. The pair split €5,250 in prize money and pocketed 100 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
