SAO PAULO/STARNBERG, May 16, 2022
Following her triumph in Curitiba last week, Martina Capurro Taborda of Argentina clinched a second consecutive ITF World Tennis Tour W15 title in Brazil by lifting the trophy of the Circuito Femenino De Tenis in Sao Paulo.
The 24-year-old lefty rallied past No. 2 seed Noelia Zeballos Melgar of Bolivia 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 in Sunday’s singles final. Zeballos played a very solid first set and benefited from crucial mistakes of her opponent. Capurro, however, raised her level and started a great comeback until completely dominating the third set on the clay court of the Clube Hípico de Santo Amaro.
Capurro Taborda had never won a professional singles titles before competing in these tournaments. The World No. 521 also claimed the doubles title alongside Chilean Fernanda Labrana.
