Home favourite Lorenzo Musetti will lead the quarterfinals line-up of the €134,920 Forli Open. The top seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court tournament in northern in Italy outlasted German lefty Maximilian Marterer 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday evening.
Under the lights on Center Court of the Cooperativa Tennis Villa Carpena, Musetti overcame a slow start, capitalized on three of his nine break-point chances to seal victory in two hours and 13 minutes. The World No. 66, who is seeking his second Challenger career crown following his maiden triumph here in Forli two years ago, will next be challenged by Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The seventh-seeded Argentine defeated Dutch qualifier Robin Haase 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 19 minutes.

In other action, Italian qualifier Matteo Gigante continued his good run of form this week on home soil by beating his compatriot Thomas Fabbiano 7-6(3), 6-4. The World No. 503 struck seven aces and won 69 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 44 minutes.
Up next for Gigante will be No. 3 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina, who rallied past local wild card entry Stefano Napolitano 6-7(6), 7-5, 6-1. The longest encounter of the day lasted three hours and 23 minutes.
