A former Grand Slam champion, past Citi Open winners and fan favorites totaling six new players – three men and three women – were added to this summer’s Citi Open field on Friday.
The world’s best men’s and women’s players will compete in the nation’s capital city from July 30 to August 7 at the Citi Open, a combined ATP 500 and WTA 250 event, that will take place at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in northwest Washington, D.C.

New player additions to the women’s draw include: 2019 Citi Open women’s champion Jessica Pegula of the United States, who is ranked World No. 9 and is the second-ranked American woman; two-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently ranked 20th; and 2014 Wimbledon finalist and former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard of Canada, who is returning in to tennis this season after undergoing shoulder surgery last year.

Meanwhile, in the men’s draw, 2015 Citi Open men’s champion Kei Nishikori of Japan; two-time Grand Slam semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, ranked No. 21; and 2018 Citi Open finalist Alex de Minaur of Australia, who is currently ranked 24th.

The Citi Open’s growing player field now includes four past Grand Slam champions, four past Citi Open champions and seven current Top 20 players. Earlier commitments have come from Nick Kyrgios, Frances Tiafoe, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz and Reilly Opelka, as well as from Emma Raducanu, Leylah Fernandez, Sloane Stephens and Sofia Kenin.

The Citi Open is one of only five combined tennis tournaments in the United States, featuring pro competition from both men and women. The Citi Open’s ATP 500 event will showcase 48 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Meanwhile, the revived WTA 250 event will celebrate its 10th edition this summer with a player file featuring 32 singles competitors and 16 doubles teams.
