The ATP Tour stops in Montreal this week for the sixth ATP Masters 1000 event of the season, the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers.
Daniil Medvedev of Russia is the top seed in Quebec, where he will be defending the crown he won in Toronto in 2021. The World No. 1 could face freshly crowned Citi Open champion Nick Kyrgios from Australia in the second round in Canada, in what would be a rematch of the pair’s clash at the Australian Open in January.
Spanish teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz arrives in Montreal for his Canadian Masters 1000 debut seeking further success in his standout 2022 season. The Miami and Madrid champion will hope to kick-start his bid for a third Masters 1000 title of the year in an opening-round matchup against US-American Tommy Paul or home favourite Vasek Pospisil.
Sixth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and 2017 semi-finalist Denis Shapovalov lead the home charge, while three-time champion Andy Murray competes in Canada for the first time since he lifted the trophy in Montreal in 2015. The 35-year-old Briton opens with a blockbuster first-round clash against 10th seed Taylor Fritz from the United States.
