Bernabe Zapata Miralles and Dennis Novak will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Rhein Asset Open, being held at the TeReMeer Sport and Tennis Resort in Meerbusch, Germany. The World No. 89 and top seed of the €45,730 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event ended the run of French qualifier Clement Tabur in the stage of the last four, winning 6-4, 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Zapata Miralles saved both break points he faced and capitalized on four of his own seven break-point chances to advance in one hour and 20 minutes.

Later in the day, Novak defeated Italian veteran Riccardo Bonadio 7-5, 6-1. The 28-year-old Austrian won 79 per cent of his first-service points and 57 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 26 minutes.

Zapata Miralles is seeking his fourth ATP Challenger career crown and is trying to become the second Spaniard to lift the trophy in Meerbusch after Ricardo Ojeda Lara in 2017. Novak is bidding for his third Challenger career title, his first since 2019. The Spaniard won both previous meetings with Novak. The last one took place in Pune, India in February this year.

In other action, David Pel from the Netherlands and Szymon Walkow of Poland captured the doubles title. The top seeds beat the all-Austrian combination and No. 4 seeds Neil Oberleitner and Philipp Oswald 7-5, 6-1 in one hour and 11 minutes.

By winning their first team title, Pel and Walkow split €2,670 in prize money and earned 80 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
