Top-seed Rogerio Dutra Sila was in second round action on Thursday at the €42,500 Open Citta’ Della Disfida, when he defeated Maximo González 6-4, 6-2. The world number 100 won 73% of his first service points and converted all of his four break points to advance after one hour and 28 minutes.
Dutra Silva will take on Jurgen Zopp in the quarterfinal. The 28-year-old from Estonia oustlasted Alexey Vatutin, winning 57, 6-3, 7-5 in two hours and 24 minutes.
The tournament’s number four Gastao Elias also reached the stage of the final eight with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 win over Julian Reister. The world number 118 from Portugal sent down five aces and broke his opponent’s service six times to seal victory in two hours and 40 minutes. Elias will face eighth favourite Elias Ymer, who dismissed Gianluca Naso 7-6, 6-3 in one hour and 55 minutes.
On Wednesday, second seed Roberto Carballés-Baena fell to Aleassandro Giannessi. The 25-year-old Italian won 64% of his first service points and converted six of his 15 break point chances to prevail in two hours and 54 minutes. Giannessi will take on Enrique López-Pérez in the quarterfinal, who defeated Italian wild card Edoardo Eremin 6-2, 6-2.
The tournament’s number three Adam Pavlasek rallied back against Marton Fucsovics, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. The 21-year-old Czech capitalized on all of his five break point opportunities to seal victory in two hours and 11 minutes. Pavlasek will play Lorenzo Sonego next. The Italian qualifier knocked out fifth seed Andrej Martin 6-2, 6-4.
