Dusan Lajovic has reached the quarterfinals of the Parma Challenger presented by Iren, being held at the Tennis Club Parma. The No. 2 seed of the €134,920 clay-court event beat Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo of Spain 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Lajovic saved the only break point he faced and converted four of his own five break-point opportunities to advance in one hour and 20 minutes. The World No. 85 from Serbia, who is in chase for his seventh ATP Challenger Tour career crown this week, will next take on Gianluca Mager. He beat fellow Italian and wild card entry Federico Arnaboldi 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 20 minutes.
“I am improving, I played better than in the first round,” said Lajovic and added about his upcoming rival: “I know Mager. We played twice and a few weeks ago I beat him in Genoa. Here he is playing well here and it will not be an easy match, as usual.”
