M25 Rodez FRA – Alexis Gautier prevails on home soil

The Internationaux de Tennis du Grand Rodez Aveyron concluded with the title win of local hero Alexis Gautier.

The 25-year-old Frenchman beat Belgian No. 4 seed and last week’s Nevers champion Gauthier Onclin in the semi-finals in two sets.

No. 6 seed Antoine Hoang set the all-French final with a straight-set win versus Belgian top seed Raphael Collignon.

Levallois-born Gautier struck eight aces in the championship match and won 81 per cent of his first-service points to claim victory with 7-6, 7-5 after two hours and 11 minutes. He celebrated his fourth singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M25 Santa Margherita di Pula ITA – Timo Stodder captures back-to-back titles

Following his championship at the same place last week, Timo Stodder was again victorious at the Fortevillage ITF Trophy, held at the venue of ASD Fortevillage. 

The 26-year-old German battled past the tournament’s top favourite Daniel Michalski from Poland in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Wildcard entry Fausto Tobacco won the all-italian semifinal-battle against his younger brother Giorgio Tabacco in three sets.

Unseeded Stodder outpointed his 20-year-old rival in the title match by the score of 64-46, to triumph 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 25 minutes. The former college player for the University of Tennessee lifted his sixth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis tour and his fourth in 2022. The Berlin native won all of them on clay in Europe.

M25 Sunderland GBR – Harry Wendelken wins maiden title on home soil 

Harry Wendelken is the champion of the 25K Pro-Series Sunderland, held at Silksworth Community Pool. 

The 20-year-old Briton made it to the final with a straight-set win versus Portuguese No. 3 seed Goncalo Oliveira. 

Last week’s Sheffield champion Arthur Fery edged out No. 4 seed and fellow Briton Daniel Cox in the semi-finals in three sets. 

Unseeded Wendelken won 83 per cent of his first-service points in the championship match and converted all of his three break-point chances to secure a 6-4, 6-4 victory in 73 minutes. The Cambridge native celebrated his first singles title on the Pro Circuit.

M25 Cairns AUS – Dane Sweeny clinches sixth trophy of the season

Dane Sweeny captured the title of the Cairns International#2, hosted by Cairns International Tennis Centre.

The 21-year-old Australian made the last step to the final by defeating US-American No. 4 seed Kyle Seelig in straight sets.

No 8 seed Philip Sekulic set the all-Australian final with a three-set victory against his sixth seeded compatriot Tristan Schoolkate.

Top seed Sweeny won 80 per cent of his first-service points in the title match and gained three breaks more to prevail 6-2, 6-3 after about one hour. The Penrith native lifted his sixth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on home soil this season.

M25 Rio Cuarto ARG – Hernan Casanova remains solid on clay 

The Copa Sieger Ciudad de Rio Cuarto, hosted by Jockey Club Rio Cuarto, concluded with the title win of Hernan Casanova. 

In the all-Argentinian semi-finals, the 28-year-old knocked off No. 3 seed Matias Franco Descotte in straight sets.

Qualifier Guido Ivan Justo continued his great run by beating Santiago de la Fuente in the semis in three sets. 

Buenos Aires-born Casanova capitalized on six of his 12 break-point opportunities in the championship match and lost two service-games to seal victory with 6-2, 6-3 in 81 minutes. The top seed celebrated his 22nd singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them achieved on clay.

M15 Heraklion GRE – David Pichler triumphs in Crete

David Pichler was crowned champion of the M15 Heraklion tournament, held at the venue of Nama Golden Beach Hotel.

The 26-year-old Austrian cruised past 17-year-old wildcard entry Stylianos Christodoulou in the semi-finals in two clear sets.

Italian No. 3 seed Simone Roncalli made it to the final with a three-set victory against Kristjan Tamm from Estonia.

No. 2 seeded Pichler, who is practising at the Tennis Centre of Gunter Bresnik in the South of Vienna, converted four of his seven break-point chances by dropping one service game in the title match to succeed 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 37 minutes. The Eisenstadt native lifted his third career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

I am so happy winning the trophy because I already finished runner-up for four times this season and my last title win in singles was three years ago here in Heraklion”, Pichler told Tennis TourTalk.

In the last two days the weather was very stormy, so I think I found the best way to handle the difficult conditions. Next week I will play another competition here in Heraklion, then I will travel to Monastir for the next two ITF-tournaments.”

M15 Maputo MOZ – Tibo Colson earns maiden trophy 

Tibo Colson emerged victorious at the Standard Bank Open, hosted by Clube de Tenis de Maputo.

The Belgian No. 4 seed booked the spot in the final with a straight-set win versus Gabriele Pennaforti from Italy. 

Dylan Salton from South Africa ended the run of Israeli qualifier Jonathan Baron in the semi-finals in two sets.

Twenty-two-year-old Colson won 80 per cent of his first-service points in the championship match and earned three breaks more to seal a 6-3, 6-3 win after 71 minutes. The Genk native celebrated his first title on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Sozopol BUL – Alexandar Lazarov captures first title on hard court 

Local hero Alexandar Lazarov was crowned champion at the Santa Marina Cup 2, held at Santa Marina Tennis Centre.

The 24-year-old Bulgarian took the last step to the final by defeating Polish No. 3 seed Maks Kasnikowski in three sets.

No. 2 seed Vladyslav Orlov from the Ukraine stopped Polish junior entry Martyn Pawelski in the semi-finals in straight sets. 

Florida-born Lazarov gained the only five breaks in the title match and won 80 per cent of his first-service points to succeed 6-1, 6-1 in about one hour. Following five title wins on clay, the top seed lifted his sixth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Sharm El Sheikh EGY – Alec Deckers wins another title on hard court 

Alec Deckers clinched the trophy of the Egypt Men’s Future, hosted by the venue of Soho Square in Sharm El Sheikh.

The Dutch No. 4 seed benefited in the semi-finals from the retirement of left-handed teenager Jack Loutit from Australia at the score of 6-4, 3-1.

Amr Elsayed from Egypt battled through the top half of the draw, beating Italian Luca Giacomini in the semis in three sets.

Twenty-two-year-old Deckers, the son of former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, fired 15 aces in the championship match and won 84 per cent of his first-service points to claim a 6-3, 6-3 victory in 85 minutes. The Blaricum native celebrated his second singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden championship in Doha exact one year ago.

M15 Monastir TUN – Christoph Negritu remains solid in Tunisia 

Christoph Negritu took another title of the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir. 

The 28-year-old German finished the run of French qualifier Alexis Boureau in the semi-finals in two sets.

Chinese No. 5 seed Fajing Sun advanced to the final with a straight-set win against Jarno Jans from the Netherlands.

In the title match with both players earning five breaks, unseeded Negritu sent down 10 aces and scored four points more to triumph 7-6, 7-6 after two hours and 23 minutes. The Dinkelsbühl native lifted his third career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on Tunisian soil.
