Coria Earns Quarterfinals Spot At Lima Challenger

Federico Coria has reached the quarterfinals of the Lima 2 Challenger hosted by the Tennis Club Las Terrazas Miraflores in Peru. The top seed of the $53,120 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event fought past 778th-ranked 18-year-old local wild card entry Ignacio Buse 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 on Wednesday.

Coria capitalized on five of his nine break-point opportunities and won 53 per cent of the total points played to advance in two hours and 19 minutes.

The World No. 73 from Argentina, a four-time champion on the Challenger Circuit, will next take on French qualifier Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who edged out sixth-seeded Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli 7-5, 7-5.

In other second-round action, Serbian qualifier Nikola Milojevic rallied past No. 3 seed Marco Cecchinato of Italy 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. The 27-year-old Belgrade native broke his rival’s serve four times to prevail after one hour and 59 minutes.

Up next for Milojevic will be Argentine lucky loser Roman Andres Burruchaga, who also came back from a set down to outlast his compatriot Thiago Tirante 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 55 minutes.
