Dominic Stricker has reached the quarterfinals of the Trofeo Perrel – Faip ATP Challenger Tour hard-court tournament in Bergamo. The 20-year-old Swiss edged past Vit Kopriva from the Czech Republic 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday evening.
Stricker, who is seeking his third ATP Challenger Tour title of the season following his triumphs in Cleveland, United States and on home soil in Zug, capitalized on four of his six break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 42 minutes.
Up next for Stricker will be Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen, who defeated No. 3 seed Zhizhen Zhang of China 6-4, 7-6(7) in one hour and 39 minutes.
In other action, Nuno Borges of Portugal and Yannick Hanfmann from Germany also booked their spots in the stage of the last eight in Northern Italy.
