Eduardo Ribeiro captured the title of the inaugural  Lajeado Open. The ITF World Tennis Tour M25 tournament was hosted by the Club Tiro e Caça in Lajeado, an important city in the valley of the Taquari River, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

The World No. 486 emerged victorious from the all-Brazilian singles final with Marcelo Zormann da Silva, winning 6-2, 6-2 on a sunny and hot Sunday. Ribeiro struck three aces and won 77 per cent of his first-service points. He broke his rival four times to prevail in one hour and 20 minutes.

Ribeiro lifted his third ITF World Tennis Tour title of the season following his triumphs on home soil in Recife and Brasilia.

“The last day of Lajeado Open was crowned with a wonderful day, pleasant temperature and perfect conditions for a high level match. We had live broadcast by SporTV, crowded stands. The spectators enjoyed the action, the players were excellent so that the match could take place in the best way. The club was wonderful, it was sensational. We want to thank everyone who participated, umpires, sponsors and supporters. Everyone worked hard for the tournament to be a spectacle,” said Ney Arruda Filho, who was the president of the CTC between 2020 and 2021, and is currently a member of the deliberative council of the club.
