MUNICH, April 19, 2023
On a rain-affected Wednesday at the BMW Open by American Express first up on Centre Court was the last first-round match of the ATP 250 clay-court tournament in Munich between Daniel Altmaier of Germany and Aslan Karatsev. Altmaier, who captured his seventh ATP Challenger career title at last week’s Sarasota Open in Florida and is competing in his first tournament of the season on European soil, won the opening set 6-4.
Karatsev fought back, secured the second set in the tie-break by the score of 7-2 and pushed the match the distance. Play was then suspended due to rain which started long delays at the MTTC Iphitos.
