STUTTGART, April 29, 2023
US-Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe as well as Denis Shapovalov from Canada have confirmed their participation in the 2023 BOSS OPEN. The ATP 250 grass-court tournament will be held from June 10 to 18 at the Tennis Club Weissenhof in Stuttgart, Germany. The trio joins defending champion Matteo Berrettini of Italy and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, who will also be part of the line-up.
Fritz enjoys playing on the grass. The World No. 10 celebrated two of his five ATP Tour titles in 2019 and 2022 in Eastbourne. He also reached his first quarterfinal at a Grand Slam tournament last year at Wimbledon.
Fritz is known for his attacking style of play – putting a lot of pressure on his opponents with a strong serve and a powerful forehand. “I really enjoy playing on grass and am looking forward to starting my season on this surface at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof. With a view to doing well at Wimbledon, the tournament has great significance for me,” said Fritz.
Shapovalov experienced his finest hour on grass in 2021 when he marched through to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, having previously knocked out Andy Murray, Roberto Bautista Agut and Karen Khachanov.
Tickets for the BOSS OPEN can be purchased through the tournament’s official website.
