Andy Murray has captured his second consecutive grass-court title on the ATP Challenger Tour by winning the Rothesay Open held at the Nottingham Tennis Centre. Following last week’s triumph at the Surbiton Trophy, the 36-year-old Briton celebrated another title win on home soil. Murray defeated French qualifier Arthur Cazaux 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.

The top seed of the ATP Challenger 125 event won 83 per cent of his first-service points and capitalized on three of his four break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 45 minutes.

“It’s been a really good week, I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I played really well and got better as the week went on,” said Murray, quoted by the LTA website.

“It was quite a physical match today, lot’s of long rallies, but I’m glad to get through it and on to Queen’s we go.

“He hasn’t played much on grass before and coming through qualies to reach the final, I thought he played better and better as the mach went on and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of him.

“I’m pumped – looking forward to a days rest and hopefully can get back home to see my kids as it’s father’s day.

Murray earned €19,650 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points and became only the third player since 2000 to win consecutive ATP Challenger grass-court titles after fellow Brit Dan Evans in 2019 (Surbiton and Nottingham) and Yen-hsun Lu in 2016 (Surbiton and Ilkley).
