LÜDENSCHEID, July 18, 2023
The ATP Challenger Tour will return to Germany for the third edition of the Platzmann Open held at the Lüdenscheider Tennis Verein 1899 in Lüdenscheid, nestled amidst the picturesque hills of the Sauerland region.
World No. 93 Fabian Marozsan headlines the field of the €118,000 clay-court event, which will be held from July 30 to August 5. The 23-year-old Hungarian is well known to tennis fans since his magnificent straight-sets victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the third round of the ATP Masters in Rome in May. Marozsan is seeking his fourth ATP Challenger career title, his third of the season following his triumphs in Antalya, Turkey and Perugia, Italy.
#NextGenATP Swiss Dominic Stricker, Spaniard Pedro Martinez, French enfant terrible Benoit Paire and Timofey Skatov of Kazakhstan round out the potential Top 5 seeds. Maximilian Marterer from Nürnberg leads home hopes of a second champion of the Platzmann Open from Germany after Daniel Altmaier in 2021.
