Atlanta Open Kicks Off With Qualifying

The Atlanta Open has returned to the Atlantic Station in Georgia. This year’s ATP 250 event features more than 60 world-class tennis professionals in one of the strongest fields in the tournament’s 13-year history. The hard-court event has become a cornerstone of the summer tennis calendar and is one of only 10 ATP Tour tournaments in the United States this season. The Atlanta Open will be televised worldwide to more than 80 countries.

Tennis action kicked off Saturday with the qualifying headlined by top seed Michael Mmoh, who fought past fellow US-American Tennys Sandgren 4-6, 7-6(8), 6-4 in two hours and 37 minutes. Next up for the World No. 115 will be South African Lloyd Harris. The pair will battle for a spot in the main draw.
