Jan Choinski is the champion of the 10th edition of the M.A.R.A. Open. The second seed of the €73,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament held at the TeReMeer Tennis Complex in Meerbusch, Germany defeated fifth favourite Camilo Ugo Carabelli of Argentina 6-4, 6-0 in Sunday’s singles final.

Choinski, who represented Germany from the beginning of his career until the end of 2018 and then switched to Great Britain, sent down three aces and won 69 per cent of his first-service points. The 27-year-old Koblenz native capitalized on six of his 12 break-point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 29 minutes.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have finally clinched the victory at this remarkable tournament. I had reached the finals here in Meerbusch back in 2018, so to be able to carry it through to the end now is truly gratifying,” said Choinski.

Choinski captured his second ATP Challenger Tour career title following his maiden triumph in Campinas, Brazil last year. The World No. 148 earned €9,880 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
