World No. 250 Luciano Darderi leads the quarterfinals line-up of the Internazionali Città di Todi | Sidernestor Tennis Cup. The No. 7 seed of the €73,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event in Italy defeated Serbian qualifier and 2016 Todi champion Miljan Zekic 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Darderi capitalized on three of his five break-point chances and won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 38 minutes.
Darderi will face Spanish qualifier Carlos Sanchez Jover, who secured a 6-3, 7-5 victory in one hour and 40 minutes over Croatia’s Duje Ajdukovic. Seventeen-year-old Gabriel Debru from France also advanced to the stage of the final eight. The former junior World No. 1 won the derby against lucky loser Mathys Erhard 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 after two hours and 26 minutes.
