ROTTERDAM, September 1, 2023
Jannik Sinner, a finalist at the 50th ABN AMRO Open earlier this year, is coming to Rotterdam again in 2024. The ATP 500 hard-court event will be held at Rotterdam Ahoy Arena from 10 to 18 February 2024.
The World No. 6 from Italy announced his participation in New York, where he is considered one of the favorites for the US Open title. His recent title win in Toronto shows that Sinner is in top form and is excellent on hard court.
“The winner and finalist of the tournament are always high on the wish list for the following year. Especially a finalist like Jannik Sinner. He is one of the young twenty-somethings currently taking over the baton to dominate tennis in the years to come,” said tournament director Richard Krajicek.
Finalist in Rotterdam
Following his debut in 2020, where he made it to the quarterfinals as a wild card entry, Sinner made his second appearance at the ABN AMRO Open in February. A fresh winner of the Montpellier tournament a week earlier, he was in great shape. Victories over Benjamin Bonzi, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Stan Wawrinka and Tallon Griekspoor took him to the final. Then, Daniil Medvedev proved too strong 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in three sets. The 22-year-old South Tyrolean is enjoying an excellent continuation of his season, including a semi-final place at Wimbledon and a triumph at the ATP 1000 Masters tournament in Toronto.
Krajicek: “Jannik Sinner is one of the fine examples of our policy of giving Dutch and international top talents the chance to compete at the highest level. The wildcard we gave him as an 18-year-old is paying off. Not only with his preference for the tournament and his performance here, but also with all the activities he does off the court to give fans a unique experience.”

After Daniil Medvedev, Sinner is the second player to be confirmed for the ABN AMRO Open. In the coming months, the list will be further completed.
