HAMBURG, February 19, 2024
From July 13 to 21, the tennis world will turn its attention to Hamburg. The legendary Rothenbaum Tennis Center, located on the grounds of the Club an der Alster, will host the Hamburg Open for the 118th time. This year, tradition is revived as the ATP 500 tournament returns as a men’s-only event, organized for the first time by the globally operating and growing sports management company, Tennium. Just before the start of the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris on July 27, also played on clay courts, the Hamburg Open holds special significance. Many of the tour’s superstars are expected to join the line-up in the Hanseatic City.
“The beginning of a new era” is the new official slogan of the Hamburg Open. It aims to convey that much will change, yet tradition will be preserved. The new look of the Hamburg Open is also evident in its new logo. The official tournament poster is an artistic collage featuring the Centre Court in the background. The dominant colors are red and blue. As the tournament is no longer a combined men’s and women’s event, not only is the name “Hamburg Open” new, but all social media channels and the website have also been relaunched.
Tennium, which will organize the Rothenbaum tournament until at least 2027, aims to work closely with the city of Hamburg and the German Tennis Federation (DTB) to elevate this prestigious event to the next level. “We want to make the tournament not only more prominent in the sports calendar but also a unique experience for the city itself,” says Tennium’s founder and CEO, Kristoff Puelinckx. A special emphasis is placed on enhancing the fan experience and hospitality offerings, areas where Tennium is currently investing heavily.
Zverev set to return to his home tournament
From a purely sporting perspective, the Hamburg Open 2024 promises to deliver “great tennis” once again. Germany’s top tennis player, defending champion, and local hero Alexander Zverev will be competing, alongside World No. 7 Holger Rune of Denmark. Further commitments from top players ensuring a high-quality field will be announced in the coming weeks.
