BERLIN, June 24, 2024
The ecotrans Ladies Open 2024 concluded on Sunday at the sold-out Steffi Graf Stadium at LTTC “Rot-Weiß” e.V. in Berlin, with Jessica Pegula emerging as the champion. Since 2021, the emotion group has firmly reestablished Berlin as a key location in the international tennis calendar by hosting this WTA tournament, following the bett1ACES in 2020.
“Our tournament has become a globally recognized event,” said Edwin Weindorfer, founder and CEO of the emotion group. He announced that starting in 2025, the organization of this tournament will be handed over to a new, yet-to-be-announced organizer.
The tournament will remain in Berlin, with the 2025 edition scheduled from June 14-22.
“This tournament has continuously improved and has never been as successful as this year. The fans appreciate it, and the best players in the world want to play here in Berlin. My special thanks go to the many supporters, particularly bett1, our long-term title sponsor, and this year’s title sponsor, the ecotrans Group,” Weindorfer added.
This year featured eight Top 10 players.
Tournament Director Barbara Rittner also looks to the future with optimism: “We have a world-class field, and the players love coming to Berlin.”
And that’s how it should stay.
