Jozef Kovalik pulled double duty to captured the title of the Tennis Open Karlsruhe. The No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 tournament fought past Daniel Masur of Germany 6-7(3), 6-0, 6-1 in the last four before returning to the court and ousting top-seeded Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-3, 7-6(2) in Sunday’s singles final.
Kovalik broke the South American’s serve three times and won 55 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 50 minutes.

The 31-year-old Slovakian earned his ninth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his third of the season following his two triumphs on Croatian soil in Split and Zadar. Kovalik pocketed €10,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
“These are the moments for which you host a tournament like this. The best players of the tournament in the final, a packed Centre Court, spectators enjoying great tennis and having a good time. Of course, I would have liked the other days to be like today, but the weather just wasn’t on our side. As beautiful as the conclusion was, it’s equally sad that the other days were literally washed out,” summarized Tournament Director Markus Schur about the tournament week.
The second edition of the Tennis Open Karlsruhe was held at the Tennisclub Rüppurr 1929. Karlsruhe, located in southwestern Germany, is a vibrant city known for its rich history, cultural diversity, and innovative spirit. Founded in 1715, the city wiht about 300,000 inhabitants is renowned for its unique fan-shaped layout, with streets radiating out from the majestic Karlsruhe Palace.
