BONN/STARNBERG, August 10, 2024
The title of the inaugural Bonn Open will be contested between Hugo Dellien of Bolivia and Germany’s Maximilian Marterer, as both players won their semi-final matches on Saturday.
World No. 130 Dellien faced off against Spaniard Martin Landaluce to kick off a sunny Saturday of tennis on Centre Court at the Bonner Tennis- und Hockey-Verein. The former Top 100 player from South America impressed with his experience, securing the first break and taking the set 7-5.
In the second set, Landaluce managed to break first, but he couldn’t hold his serve and even suffered a double break. This turned out to be the decisive moment in a tight match, allowing Dellien to clinch his spot in the championship match of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court event in Germany after one hour and 44 minutes, winning 7-5, 6-3.
Marterer shows consistent performance
Later in the afternoon, Benjamin Hassan of Lebanon and Maximilian Marterer competed for the second spot in Sunday’s final. Marterer, a former World No. 45, won 6-3, 7-6(3) after one hour and 41 minutes to reach the stage of the final for the first time this season.
