Den Ouden Earns Maiden Challenger Title, Wins Izida Cup

Guy den Ouden has clinched his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour by winning the second edition of the IZIDA Cup in Dobrich, Bulgaria. The 22-year-old emerged victorious from the all-Dutch singles final on Saturday, beating Jelle Sels 6-2, 6-3.

Van Ouden advanced to the championship match with victories in the top half of the draw over Portuguese qualifier Frederico Ferreira Silva, No. 4 seed Liam Draxl of Canada, local wild card entry Alexander Donski and Argentine Genaro Alberto Olivieri.

The World No. 341 from Utrecht didn’t face a break point and capitalized on three of his own six break-point opportunities in the title match to succeed after one hour and 10 minutes.

Van Ouden, a former top 20 junior, who has captured 11 singles titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour, collected €5,080 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

The second edition of the IZIDA Cup offered a total prize purse of €36,900 and was held at the Tennis Club Izida in Dobrich, a city located in northeastern Bulgaria, known for its rich history and cultural significance. As the administrative center of the Dobrich Province, the city plays a key role in the region. It is often referred to as the “granary of Bulgaria” due to its agricultural importance.

The city features a mix of modern and traditional architecture, with attractions like the Ethnographic Museum and the old town showcasing its heritage. Dobrich also has a vibrant cultural scene, with numerous festivals and events held throughout the year, celebrating its history and community spirit.
