Gijs Brouwer has captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour by winning the Saint-Tropez Open. The 28-year-old Dutchman capped his dream run from the qualifying to the championship in Sunday’s singles final, beating No. 7 seed Lucas Pouille of France 6-4, 7-6(2).
Following two wins in the qualifying, Brouwer defeated third-seeded Frenchman Luca van Assche, Spanish youngster Martin Landaluce as well as home favourites Benjamin Bonzi, who claimed the crown here three years ago, and Ugo Blanchet en route to the final. Brouwer struck six aces and won 72 per cent of his first service points. He broke Pouille’s serve two times to seal victory in one hour and 33 minutes.

The World No. 223, a winner of five titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour, lifted his maiden trophy at Challenger level. Brouwer earned €20,300 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
