The ATP Challenger Tour is back in France with the Co’met Orleans Open being held at the Arena CO’Met in Orleans. Home favourite Harold Mayot and Briton Jacob Fearnley are the only two seeded players in the singles draw, who made it into the semi-finals of the €148,625 indoor hard-court event.

Mayot emerged victorious from the all-French battle with Benjamin Bonzi, winning 6-4, 6-4 on Friday. The fifth seed fired eight aces and won 80 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 20 minutes.

Up next for Mayot will be Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland, who was a 7-6(4), 6-0 winner over Hamad Medjedovic from Serbia. The encounter lasted one hour and 15 minutes.

In the bottom half of the draw, Fearnley cruised past Italy’s Matteo Gigante 6-1, 6-0. The No. 8 seed, who is seeking his fourth ATP Challenger Tour trophy of the season this week in Orleans, saved all three break points he faced and capitalized on six of his own 10 break-point chances to prevail in only 48 minutes.

Up next for Fearnley will be Belgian teenager Alexander Blockx. The 19-year-old Antwerp native, champion of the 2023 Australian Open Boys singles title, beat Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.
