VIENNA, October 3, 2024
Tennis fans in Vienna can look forward to an interesting 2024 edition of the Erste Bank Open, as four Top 10 players and 10 stars from the world’s top 20 will compete in the ATP 500 tournament, which takes place from October 19 to 27.
The provisional entry list for the Erste Bank Open is led by Germany’s World No. 2, Alexander Zverev, followed by Daniil Medvedev (World No. 5), US-American Taylor Fritz (World No. 7), and Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov (World No. 10).
Zverev claimed the Vienna title in 2021, while Medvedev took home the trophy in 2022. This season, Zverev won his 22nd ATP title at the Masters 1000 in Rome and reached the finals at both the French Open in Paris and in Hamburg. Expressing his fondness for Vienna after his victory three years ago, Zverev said, “It was one of the best weeks of the year for me. I will come back here as often as I can.”
Additionally, Dominic Thiem will host a big farewell party with his fans at the Wiener Stadthalle on Super Sunday (October 20, 2024). The event will feature a rematch of the 2020 US Open final, where Austria’s tennis star triumphed over Zverev in a five-set thriller. The day will also include a fun One-Shot-Cup event, culminating in a special tribute to Thiem.
