Gigante Reaches Semi-Finals At Olbia Challenger

Matteo Gigante and Martin Landaluce have secured their spots in the semifinals of the Olbia Challenger. This results in a 1-1 tie between Italy and Spain at the Tennis Club Terranova, the venue of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 tournament organized by MEF Tennis Events.

Friday began with the 2006-born Landaluce reaching his fifth semi-final of the season by defeating home favourite Andrea Vavassori 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Following that, Gigante overcame Javier Barranco Cosano of Spain in a grueling two hours and 54 minutes, winning 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-3.

“This is the last Italian tournament of my season, it means a lot to me,” said Gigante. “I thank the crowd for their support today. In recent weeks, I’ve been training well, and the results are showing.”

The quarterfinal program will conclude on Saturday with Samuel Vincent Ruggeri facing Dalibor Svrcina and Mattia Bellucci going up against Constant Lestienne.
