Both ties were wrapped up after the singles matches at the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals on Sunday, with Slovakia downing Australia 2-0 to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2013, before Great Britain ousted defending champions Canada 2-0 without the loss of a set to reach the semifinals for the second time in three years after making it to the last four in 2022.

“It’s another big country which we beat, and I’m so proud for the girls, for our team members, for our country, because we are a small country,” said Slovakia’s Captain Matej Liptak. “For us, it really means so much. So I’m happy.”

Slovakia and Great Britain join Poland and Italy in the semifinals, who face each other on Monday for a place in the final.
