Brazilian Luiza Fullana secured the second singles title of her career on Sunday at the Campeonato Internacional de Tenis Feminino -presented by Santander ITF World Tennis Tour W15 tournament in Ribeirao Preto. Fullana triumphed over the tournament’s top seed, World No. 441  Kaylah McPhee of Australia, in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-4, 7-5.

Fullana started strongly, breaking McPhee in the fifth game to gain the lead. Despite being broken while serving for the set at 5-3, she regrouped and sealed the set at 6-4 on her next opportunity. With the support of a full crowd at the Ipe Golf Club, Fullana broke early and led 4-2. McPhee fought back to level the score, but Fullana held her composure, breaking again at 6-5 and closing the match with an ace.

“I was alone today, everyone had already left for the next tournament. I found my strength in you. Thank you so much. You were incredible,” Fullana told the spectators during the on-court ceremony.

“Tennis is full of ups and downs. It’s about training, preparation, and feeling good on the court. I stayed mentally strong despite challenges, which was key.”

Fullana earns 15 WTA Ranking points, projected to move to 520th place in the rankings. The 23-year-old also takes home $2,160 in prize money, while runner-up McPhee earns 10 points and $1,272.
