Jacquet Takes Chennai Open Title

Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet captured the title of the Chennai Open. The World No. 204 defeated Elias Ymer from Sweden 7-6(1), 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 hard-court event.

The unseeded Jacquet advanced to the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw over local wild card entry Karan Singh, fourth-seeded Canadian Alexis Galarneau, No. 5 seed Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan and Dalibor Svrcina from the Czech Republic.

Jacquet won 78 per cent of his first-service points and broke Ymer three times to secure victory in one hour and 37 minutes.

By winning his second ATP Challenger Tour career title following his maiden triumph in Olbia, Italy in October 2023, the 23-year-old Lyon native earned $22,730 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

The fifth edition of the Chennai Open was hosted by the SDAT Tennis Stadium and offered a total prize purse of $160,000. Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is a vibrant coastal city in southern India known for its rich cultural heritage, bustling economy, and scenic beaches.
