Paolo Lorenzi won the title of the €106,500 Citta’ Di Caltanissetta ATP Challenger. The top-seed, who entered the main draw with a wild card, fought past fellow Italian Matteo Donati in Sunday’s final, winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-6.
Lorenzi won 76% of his first service points and broke his opponent’s serve two times. The 34-year-old from Rome had to save six match points to eventually seal victory in two hours and 48 minutes.
By clinching his 18th Challenger career title, Lorenzi takes awy €15,300 in prize money as well as 125 ATP ranking points. He rises to a career hight 48th position.
On Saturday, the all-Argentine-combination of Guido Andreozzi and Andres Molteni captured the doubles title, winning the final over Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Mexican Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela 6-1, 6-2 in 53 minutes of play.
