Brazilians Mateo Barreiros and Paulo Andre Saraiva Dos Santos have clinched the doubles title of the second edition of the Brazzaville Challenger being held this week at the Academie de Tennis de Brazzaville in the capital city of the Republic of Congo.
The top seeds of the ATP Challenger Tour 50 clay-court event battled past third-seeded Frenchmen Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Maxime Chazal 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 in the championship match on Friday evening. Barreiros and Saraiva dos Santos won 10 points less than their opponents but secured victory in one hour and 40 minutes.
By winning their first ATP Challenger Tour doubles title, the South Americans split $2,980 in prize money and collected 50 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
In Saturday’s singles semi-finals, the tournament’s top two seeds will headline the action. Calvin Hemery of France will play Maximus Jones of Thailand and Blancaneaux is scheduled to play Bulgarian alternate Dinko Dinev.
