Andy Murray emerged victorious from the all-British-affair with Aljaz Bedene in the second round of the Aegon Championships on Thursday, winning 6-3, 6-4. The world number two withstood 11 aces, hitting six of his own to prevail in one hour and 23 minutes.

Paul Henri Mathieu has been forced to withdraw from the tournament because of a wrist injury. This means that Kyle Edmund has received a walkover to the quarterfinals, where he will meet Murray for the first quarterfinal clash between two British players at The Queen’s Club in the Open era.

Third seed Milos Raonic defeated Czech lucky loser Jiri Vesely, winning 7-5, 7-6. The world number nine saved all three break points he faced and capitalized on one of his own to seal victory in one hour and 36 minutes.

John Isner fired a record 43 aces in a 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 loss to Den Bosch finalist Gilles Muller, who saved 10 match points – six in the second set, four in the third set. Isner had two match points on his serve at 13-12 in the second set tie-break and at 6-5 in the decider of the final set. The 10 match points saved was the most on the ATP World Tour since 2004, when Rainer Schüttler fought off the same number in a three set victory over Andrea Seppi in the second round in Kitzbühel. Muller closed the encounter after two hours and 25 minutes to face Bernard Tomic next. The 23-year-old Australian rallied back against Fernando Verdasco 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and two minutes.
