After a first-round exit at last year’s Morelia Open, Mexican prospect Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez is determined to go much further in the 2026 edition of the ATP Challenger 125 event, held at Club Tres Marias in Michoacan’s capital.

The 20-year-old from Merida returns to the tournament following a season that has brought both challenges and encouraging results. Motivated and focused, Pacheco Mendez is eager to make the most of another opportunity on home soil.

“I’m very happy to be here again—another year, another opportunity,” he said. “I’m ready to give it my all, enjoy this incredible tournament, and fight for every match.”

Pacheco Mendez arrives in Morelia with positive momentum. He reached the doubles semifinals in Acapulco and advanced to the singles quarterfinals of the Morelos Open, results that have boosted both his confidence and competitive rhythm.

“I think it’s been a very positive stretch. I’ve played a lot of good matches and gained valuable experience. I feel well prepared for this tournament—ready to enjoy it and give everything I have,” he explained.

The young Mexican has particularly excelled in doubles this season, achieving one of the best rankings of his career in the discipline. At the same time, he continues to build consistency in singles, competing strongly against high-level opponents.

“Honestly, doubles has been excellent this year—I never imagined reaching such a high ranking at this stage. In singles, I’m putting together very good matches again and competing well against top players, so I feel ready for the battle.”
