II Open Menorca draw ceremony

CIUTADELLA DE MENORCA/STARNBERG, March 28, 2026

The II Open Menorca ATP Challenger 100 is set to get underway on Sunday, following the official singles main draw ceremony held on Friday. The event, hosted at the Hotel Seth Port Ciutadella, attracted more than 150 attendees, including ball kids from Club Tenis Ciutadella and their families.

The draw was overseen by ATP supervisor Ahmed Abdel-Azim, who praised the lively atmosphere: “It’s not common to see a draw with such a large and enthusiastic audience,” he noted.

Frenchman Valentin Royer, currently ranked world No. 69, headlines the draw as the top seed, followed by Austria’s Sebastian Ofner (No. 86). The seeded lineup also includes Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, Czech Zdenek Kolar, Germany’s Justin Engel, Portugal’s Frederico Ferreira Silva, Spain’s Alejandro Moro Canas, and Russia’s Ivan Gakhov. With a direct entry cut at No. 326, the tournament showcases a notably high competitive level.

The opening round already features several intriguing matchups. Royer will face Lithuania’s Edas Butvilas, while Ofner takes on Italy’s Raul Brancaccio, who enters as an alternate.

Carballes Baena, seeded third, will meet Italian wildcard Felipe Virgili, a Menorca resident. Should he advance, he is likely to face either Jonas Forejtek or a qualifier in the next round.

Other notable first-round matches include Ferreira Silva against Spain’s Daniel Rincon and Moro Canas facing Italy’s Franco Agamenone. In the top half of the draw, Gakhov will battle Slovakian veteran Norbert Gombos in one of the most evenly matched encounters.
