Three years after winning both the singles and doubles titles in Opatija, Viacheslav Bielinskyi  justified his top seed status and claimed his tenth singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

In a closely contested Sunday final, the 22-year-old Ukrainian defeated 25-year-old Italian Gabriele Bosio 7–5, 6–4 after a two-hour battle at the Istarska Rivijera Opatija.

“It feels great to win the title in Opatija again. I really feel at home here. I’m sorry I was ill in Rovinj, but I truly enjoy playing in Croatia. The organization is excellent, everything suits me here,” said world No. 367 Bielinskyi, who truly earned this trophy, having played two matches on Saturday. Particularly exhausting was the quarterfinal clash with Portugal’s Francisco Rocha, the longest match of this year’s Istrian Rivijara tournament, lasting three hours and 19 minutes.

“Saturday was really tough, I had to play two matches, and the one against Rocha was especially demanding. In the end, I took a risk and it paid off.”

The Ukrainian has shown he is ready for the next step, transitioning from the ITF World Tennis Tour to the ATP Challenger Circuit.

“That’s the plan in the near future. I might already play at the Challenger in Zagreb. I’m confident I’ll feel at home there as well,” Bielinskyi said.
