CAMPINAS/STARNBERG, April 10, 2026
The ATP Challenger 75 in Campinas is entering its decisive phase, and with most of the leading seeds still in the draw, the quarterfinals of the Copa Internacional de Tenis promise to be highly competitive.
Top seed Gonzalo Bueno, currently ranked world No. 211, lived up to his status on Thursday by securing his place in the last eight with another solid performance.
In a tournament defined by parity, with many players separated by only a few places in the rankings, the remaining matches are expected to be increasingly open and unpredictable.
Bueno’s next opponent will be Argentina’s Hernan Casanova, who advanced after fifth seed Facundo Diaz Acosta was forced to retire with severe foot pain while trailing 5-2.
Brazil remains strongly represented and could still place two players in the semi-finals. Pedro Boscardin, who reached a career-high ranking inside the Top 230 this week, advanced to the quarter-finals with a convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory over Bolivia’s Murkel Dellien.
The 22-year-old from Santa Catarina is enjoying the best period of his career, having now reached five Challenger quarterfinals this season. Next, Boscardin will face second seed Alvaro Guillen Meza in one of the most intriguing matches of the round.
The two players are of a similar age, close in the rankings and know each other well from their junior days, where they faced each other several times.
Another Brazilian still in contention is Gustavo Heide, who will take the court later on Thursday in search of a place in the quarterfinals.
