Fajing Sun of China has captured the title of the Wuning Open 2. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger hard-court tournament outlasted Li Tu of Australia 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.

Sun reached the championship match with wins over Australian lucky loser Tai Sach, qualifier Khumoyun Sultanov of Uzbekistan, seventh-seeded Briton Giles Hussey and Uzbek Sergey Fomin.

The 29-year-old Beijing native overcame a slow start in the final, withstood 17 aces and broke Tu’s serve four times to prevail after two hours and 42 minutes.

By lifting his second ATP Challenger career trophy following his maiden triumph on home soil in Wuxi last year, Sun pocketed $9,500 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

The Wuning Open 2 was the second consecutive ATP Challenger Tour event held at the Wuning International Tennis Center. The week’s hard-court tournament offered a total prize pool of $63,000.

Wuning is a picturesque county located in Jiangxi Province, in southeastern China. Known for its lush green mountains, clean air, and rich natural scenery, it is often referred to as a “natural oxygen bar” thanks to its high forest coverage and tranquil environment.

One of Wuning’s highlights is the scenic Lushan West Sea, a vast area of crystal-clear water dotted with thousands of small islands, making it a popular destination for boating, hiking, and eco-tourism. The region offers a peaceful escape from city life, attracting visitors who enjoy outdoor activities and nature.

In addition to its landscapes, Wuning also has a long cultural history, with traditional villages, local cuisine, and festivals reflecting the heritage of the region.
