POZNAN/STARNBERG, April 26, 2026
In exactly 50 days, the Enea Poznan Open – Poland’s oldest ATP Challenger tournament – will get underway at the Park Tenisowy Olimpia in Poznan. As preparations gather pace for the 31st edition, organizers have announced the first wildcard for the qualifying draw, awarding it to 17-year-old Polish talent Aleksander Blus.
Supporting domestic players has been a core mission of the tournament since its inception, and this year is no exception. Tournament director Krzysztof Jordan emphasized the importance of such opportunities: giving young players access to Challenger-level competition is a crucial step in their development. The wildcard for Blus is seen as recognition of his dedication and steady progress over the past years.
A product of Park Tenisowy Olimpia since the age of seven, Blus is regarded as one of the most promising players of his generation in Poland. Earlier this year, he achieved a major milestone by making his debut in the main draw of the junior Australian Open in Melbourne. According to his long-time coach Rafal Soinski, that experience has further fueled his motivation and ambition.
Blus is now aiming to qualify for another Grand Slam appearance at Roland Garros, with his participation depending on results in the coming weeks. Regardless of that outcome, his place in the qualifying draw in Poznan is already secured—offering him a valuable opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd.
The 2026 edition of the Enea Poznan Open will take place from June 14 to 20, featuring an increased prize pool of over €160,000. Alongside the on-court action, the tournament will once again blend sport with culture. A highlight of the accompanying program will be a special concert by the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, including a performance of Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 by rising pianist Tianyao Lyu.
