Wong Wins First Challenger Title At Jiangxi Open

Coleman Wong is the champion of the inaugural Jiangxi Open. The No. 4 seed of the ATP Challenger 75 hard-court tournament defeated third-seeded Australian Adam Walton 7-5, 7-6(4) in Sunday’s singles final.

Wong fired 10 aces and won 74 per cent of his first-service points to seal victory in one hour and 51 minutes.

The 21-year-old from Hong Kong advanced to the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw over Kazakh veteran Mikhail Kukushkin, Rio Noguchi of Japan, seventh-seeded Chinese Yunchaokete Bu and Fajing Sun of China.

By lifting his first trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour, Wong pocketed $17,00 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.

The first edition of the Jiangxi Open offered a total prize pool of $107,000 and was hosted by the Jiujiang International Tennis Center.
