The NRW International 2026 concluded with a final worthy of the tournament’s high standards, as Max Schoenhaus defeated fellow German Mika Petkovic 6-4, 6-3 to capture the singles title in Troisdorf.

In front of approximately 600 spectators, Schoenhaus delivered a composed and mature performance, combining variety with consistent aggression to remain in control throughout the match. His victory capped a week filled with high-quality tennis, strong crowds and a vibrant atmosphere at the venue.

The singles title was not Schoenhaus’ only success of the week. The 18-year-old German also lifted the doubles trophy alongside Kai Wehnelt. The pair defeated Christoph Negritu and Adrian Oetzbach 6-3, 6-4 in the final, completing an impressive double triumph for the teenager.

Overall, the NRW International 2026 was considered a major success. Favorable weather conditions, excellent spectator support and a strong field of players ensured that the tournament lived up to the expectations of a highly competitive ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event.

Tournament organizer Marc Raffel was particularly encouraged by the performances of the young German players.

“In recent years, I have been rather critical about the future of German tennis,” Raffel said. “But when you see players like Max Schoenhaus and Mika Petkovic competing at this level, you can once again look very positively at the future of German men’s tennis.”
