BERGAMO/STARNBERG, June 9, 2026

Reaching a tenth edition is always a significant milestone, and the 2026 Trofeo TNB–Azimut will celebrate that achievement in style. The ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event at the Tennis Club Citta dei Mille will take place from June 21 to 28, continuing a tradition that began in 2015 and has become a key fixture on Bergamo’s tennis calendar.

With a prize money purse of $15,000, the tournament remains an important stepping stone for emerging players. In recognition of its role in player development, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) has granted an additional wildcard for its Technical Sector, underlining the importance of events like Bergamo in helping young talents make the transition to the professional game.

The tournament’s rich history is reflected in the names that have passed through the club’s courts. Among them are two future World No. 1s: Novak Djokovic, who competed in Bergamo in 2004, and Iga Swiątek, who played there in 2017.

Tournament Director Silvana Carrara and her team have once again prepared an event renowned for its excellent organization and player-friendly conditions. The venue features two outdoor clay courts as well as two permanent indoor courts, ensuring uninterrupted play even in the event of summer rain.

The 2026 edition will be the only professional tennis tournament held in Bergamo during the calendar year, with the city’s ATP Challenger event returning to its traditional slot in February 2027.

Gentzsch leads entry list

The entry list is currently led by Germany’s Tom Gentzsch, ranked No. 228 in the ATP Rankings. Returning champions will also be back in action, including defending titleholder Gianmarco Ferrari and 2021 winner Federico Arnaboldi.

However, much of the spotlight will fall on Swiss teenager Henry Bernet. The 2007-born talent finished last year as the world No. 1 junior and captured the junior title at the Australian Open. Now ranked inside the ATP Top 500, Bernet is coached by Severin Lüthi, the long-time mentor of Roger Federer. Many in Switzerland hope he can become the country’s next major tennis star, and his elegant one-handed backhand has already attracted plenty of attention.

Local fans will be cheering for Bergamo native Samuel Vincent Ruggeri, who will be looking to rediscover the form that once took him close to the ATP Top 200.

As always, the tournament promises opportunities for breakthrough performances and unexpected stories, with qualifying beginning on Sunday, June 21, and the championship match scheduled for the morning of Sunday, June 28.
