SANTA PONSA, June 9, 2026 (Media Release)

A strong statement during the grass‑court season was made today in Santa Ponça, where Toni Nadal, Tournament Director of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships, announced the addition of two further high‑profile names to the 2026 line‑up. Stefanos Tsitsipas, champion in Mallorca in 2022, will return to the island, while Stan Wawrinka, a three‑time Grand Slam champion, is set to compete in Spain’s only ATP grass‑court event, taking place from 20 to 27 June at the Mallorca Country Club.

The return of Tsitsipas brings back not only a former champion but also one of the tournament’s most popular players. The Greek, who is well acquainted with the conditions at the Mallorca Country Club, adds further sporting prestige to an event that has firmly established itself as a key stop on the grass‑court swing in the build‑up to Wimbledon.

Alongside him will be Stan Wawrinka, one of the defining players of his generation. The Swiss star will use the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships as one of his final tournaments on grass, in what is his last season as a professional. His participation offers fans a rare opportunity to see one of the sport’s great champions compete in a unique setting.

Strongest field to date

During the presentation, Toni Nadal said: “There are big names and, above all, very good players, and many of them choose to come to Mallorca because they feel well looked after and find ideal conditions to prepare for Wimbledon: perfect courts, good weather and the opportunity to train every day. That is key to why they want to play here.”

The 2026 edition is shaping up to feature one of the strongest fields in the history of the tournament, combining elite ranking positions, contrasting playing styles and proven crowd appeal. Players already confirmed include:

Alexander Bublik
Frances Tiafoe
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Nick Kyrgios
Jan-Lennard Struff
Tallon Griekspoor (champion in 2025)
Alejandro Tabilo (champion in 2024)

More than tennis: an event for all audiences

Beyond the on‑court action, the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships continues to focus on a wider event experience. Pilar Carbonell, Managing Director of Emotion Sports Spain, highlighted one of the tournament’s key initiatives: “After the success of last year, we are once again hosting Family Day on 21 June, with free admission for children under 12 and activities designed for families to enjoy tennis together. We want the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships to be an attractive plan for both residents and visitors, and for anyone who comes one day to want to come back the next.”

The tournament once again combines elite tennis, summer atmosphere and the unique appeal of Mallorca, reinforcing its status as a leading grass‑court event outside Wimbledon and a major sporting highlight for the local community.

New VIP infrastructure

The press conference took place inside the tournament venue itself, offering a first look at several of the new features for this edition. Among the highlights is the new layout around the centre court, including a dome housing the VIP catering area, positioned at an elevated level with direct views of the main court. The new structure represents a significant upgrade to the experience for partners and invited guests.
