LONDON, June 11, 2026 (Media Release)

The All England Lawn Tennis Club has today announced a record prize money fund of £64.2 million for The Championships 2026

The £10.7 million uplift from 2025 represents a significant 20% increase, and by far the biggest annual increase in the history of the event.

The ladies’ and gentlemen’s singles champions and runners-up will receive £3.6 million (up 20%) and £1.8 million (up 18%) respectively.

First round singles prize money is set at £80,000 (21% increase), while total prize money on offer at the Qualifying Competition is £6.2 million (25% increase).

The ladies’, gentlemen’s and mixed doubles events have each received a 10% uplift, while the total prize money for wheelchair and quad wheelchair singles and doubles events has risen by 20%.

Deborah Jevans CBE, Chair of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, commented: “I am delighted to announce a total prize money fund of £64.2 million for The Championships 2026, a very significant increase of 20% from £53.5 million last year.

“This announcement recognises the success of The Championships, and that we operate a sustainable programme that allows us not only to increase prize money, but also to invest in facilities, the grass court season and support British and international tennis.

“We are clear that as Wimbledon grows, the players will continue to share in that success.”

Today’s increase continues a long-term trend of investment in prize money by the All England Club. Over the last decade, the singles champions’ prize money has increased by 80%, first round prize money has received a 160% uplift, and the total prize money available for Qualifying has grown by 393%.

Since COVID, the All England Club has invested nearly £1 billion into the sport across prize money, substantial investment into the event’s world-class facilities and services, sustained backing for the grass court season leading into The Championships, and support for British and international tennis.

This includes:

  • The Millennium Building: a multi-million-pound investment into facilities and services for the players, Members and the media. For the players, our ambition is clear: to set the standard for elite performance environments in tennis. This year that includes a new player performance zone, with a larger gym, improved medical and recovery facilities, and a nutrition bar. On completion ahead of The Championships 2027, players and their teams will have access to a new top floor of additional facilities.
  • Community Tennis Centre at Raynes Park: a multi-million-pound investment into an off-site official practice venue, providing players with Wimbledon-standard grass courts and facilities so they can prepare and train in private away from the busy main site.
  • Since COVID, £50 million on supporting the grass court season in the UK and Europe, which offers around 2,500 professional playing opportunities.
  • Supporting British tennis with 90% of the distributable surplus going to the LTA and contributing US$750,000 annually to the Grand Slam Player Development Programme (established 1986) providing travel and expense grants to players from around the world.
